The Chimney Sweeping process:
- A visual inspection of your flue will be performed inside and out.
- A COSHH Assessment is carried out.
- The Fireplace will be sealed off and protective hearth sheets will be used to cover the surrounding area.
- Using traditional brushes or a modern sweeping viper, your chimney will be swept in accordance with the C.S.A code of practice.
- A smoke test will then be carried out to ensure your chimney is in working order.
- C.S.A Chimney sweep certificate issued.
How often should your chimney be swept?
The frequency to which your chimney should be swept depends on the type of appliance and the amount it is used:
For a general rule, your chimney should be swept:
Gas - Once per year
Oil - Once per year
Smokeless Fuel - At least once per year
Wood - Quarterly when in high use
Bitumous Coal - Quarterly when in high use
